Recursion bit not properly set

As I read today on  Fefe's Blog (german only - sorry) Avahi does not set the recursion bit properly. The author states that when sending a DNS query with recursion bit to a server, the response must also have the recursion bit set. He says that the response must have the recursion bit set in the same way as the query accourding to the standard.

However, I did not test it, as I don't have anything to do with Avahi, I just wanted to report this bug, so don't shoot the messenger ;)

This is bullshit.

Fefe should read the mDNS spec before complaining that Avahi doesn't follow it. See 20.6 of the  Multicast DNS spec: 

   In both multicast query and multicast response messages, the
   Recursion Desired bit SHOULD be zero on transmission, and MUST be
   ignored on reception.

To me this reads as if Avahi does the right thing.

BTW, I am sorry, if I sounded harsh. It's just that fefe likes to insult everyone for trivial reasons and doesn't feel the need to have any real clue if he does that. I guess you feared that reaction, given your comment on not shooting the messenger.
