Avahi fails after return from suspend to RAM

Description
For 18 months everything was working fine running Debian testing. But, perhaps due to updates, I now have this problem. I have a server with the printer and a client. I discovered that after a suspend to RAM of the client, when it was restarted it could no longer find the printers on the server. Trial and error investigation revealed that "/etc/init.d/avahi-daemon restart" fixes the problem. As far as I can tell, nothing else is broken after suspending to RAM.
What further tests should I do, or which log files should I scrutinize to get more information about what is going wrong or how to fix this?
