Avahi seg fault on openWRT / PPC

Reported by: guschti Assigned to: lennart
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: avahi-daemon Version:
Keywords: seg fault ppc openwrt crash Cc:

Description

Hello,

we successfully compile Avahi (.21, .22, .23) for our openWRT Linux platform on a Power PC MPC8347 platform but are not able to get it running.

avahi-autoip can be started whereas avahi-daemon crashes with segmentation fault

somebody out there who got avahi running on a PPC platform? (remember: these are big endian processors but this is not a problem since the complete openWRT system is running)

cheers Adrian

Aloha Avahi!

ok, we identified the problem down to ulibc. compiling Avahi with the latest ulibc 0.9.29 will result in a seg fault upon launch. when we compile Avahi with ulibc 0.0.28.2 it works.

maybe someone can trace this issue in avahi that knows the code better? lennart?

seems, that this is not the only ulibc problem with avahi.

cheers Adrian

I have no access to any uclibc system, sorry. Please get me a backtrace. Without it I cannot help you in any way. Sorry.

Also, this bug is certainly not a blocker or even critical. uclibc is known to be incomplete and buggy. If you like to use it then I am happy to take patches, but I am not jumping through loops to make it work for you, sorry.

Only Linux on glibc is relevant for releases, only bugs on that platform can hence be "bocker"s or "critical".
